Vanessa Hudgens will be heading from Montreal to Vancouver very soon to start filming on her next movie, Sucker Punch.

Sucker Punch director Zack Snyder recently dished to MTV that he was surprised by her audition. He shared, “She rehearsed, she did the audition for the scene. I wasn’t sure at first – [the casting people] were like ‘Oh, Vanessa’s coming’ and I was ‘Oh, okay - that sounds cool’ but I didn’t know what to think. Then I saw the tape and I literally went, ‘Wow, she’s good. She’s really good.’ Then I talked to her about what she’d have to do.”

He continued, “You’re going to see her shooting machine guns, fighting…we sat her down for her physical evaluation, and she was really athletic. It’ll allow her to stretch herself and do whatever she wants, and not be too exposed by the movie - but also, on the other hand, do things that people have never seen her do.”

Vanessa Hudgens is best known for her role as Gabriella Montez in "High School Musical" series, but she has a dream of playing a character in black leather suit. Met on the set of "Beastly", the teen star expressed her desire to portray Catwoman.

When asked by MTV News about the comic book characters or stories that she'd like to bring to the screen, Vanessa answered uncertainly, "Wonder Woman?" Then she immediately added, "Honestly, when I was a kid, one of the reasons my parents realized I loved showbiz was because I dressed up every single day in my Catwoman costume." After telling how the character inspired her acting career, she continued speaking, "So maybe someday, down the line... I could play Catwoman."

Vanessa, who admitted that she has watched "300" several times, claimed Michelle Pfeiffer's portrayal of the feline superhero in 1992 "Batman Returns" as one of her favorites. "It would have to be the right [character], but it's always fun, it's always great. Women kicking ass, you know?" she claimed. Vanessa Hudgens is currently busy filming "Beastly", a fantastical romance based on the "Beauty and the Beast" tale, in which she plays the main female character named Linda Taylor. Another upcoming flick for Vanessa is Zack Snyder's thriller "Sucker Punch".

Vanessa Hudgens won the hearts of tweens everywhere as Gabriella in the “High School Musical” movies, and she’s set to do it again this summer when her new film, “Bandslam,” hits theaters. But these days Hudgens is taking a break from singing to focus solely on acting.

“It’s great! I mean, I love musicals, I really do,” she told MTV News on the set of her new (non-musical) film, “Beastly.” “I grew up doing them, so it’ll always have a place in my heart … at the same time, it’s nice to be able to separate the two and just be able to focus on films. It’s a lot of fun playing different characters and taking on new journeys.”

Vanessa Hudgens is taking a break from musicals for a while.The 20-year-old actress dished to MTV on the set of her new flick, Beastly, that musicals and music aren’t in her immediate future.

She shared, “I love musicals, I really do. I grew up doing them, so it’ll always have a place in my heart … at the same time, it’s nice to be able to separate the two and just be able to focus on films. It’s a lot of fun playing different characters and taking on new journeys.”

Vanessa continued, “Honestly, I’m kind of taking a break from music right now. I’m just focusing on films and acting. I feel like when I’m doing something I really want, [I] focus on that and try to not spread myself all over the place.”Miss Hudgens is currently filming Beastly in Montreal, Quebec.

Well this isn't exactly a High School Musical or Full House... Vanessa Hudgens and Mary Kate Olsen look like you've never seen them before on the set of Beastly - a modern-day take on the Beauty and the Beast tale which follows a hot but egotistical New York teen who is transformed into a hideous monster so that his outer appearance resembles his inner nastiness.

I'm guessing Vanessa and Mary Kate aren't beasties in the film, but you've got to admit that they don't exactly look like beauties either...

Is Vanessa Hudgens looking up to Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen?

 "They take crazy chances and I love them for that," said Hudgens of the mini-moguls' fashion sense.

While Vanessa is inspired by the fashions of Nicole Richie and Kate Moss, she claims she is not a "label whore." "For the most part, I dress myself," said Hudgens.

Hudgens embraces her sexy side on the cover of UK In Style and talks about her latest roles, why she doesn't want to move in with Zac and the explicit photos of her that appeared on the internet in 2007.

With roles in the upcoming flicks Bandslam and Sucker Punch, Vanessa is done with her "bubbly" image from High School Musical and is pursuing "dark" and "sexy" characters that "kick ass."

High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens isn't planning on moving in with her boyfriend Zac Efron just yet, she has revealed. Asked if she is planning to move in with Zac, she said: "I'm young, I should have my own place. I think that everybody should buy their own home on their own." Vanessa also talked about the images of herself naked that were leaked onto the internet in 2007.

Stepping out of her teeny-bopper image would be easy for High School Musical's Vanessa Hudgens if the right parts came along.  Lucky for her, she's been getting offers she can't refuse.  The starlet already has an upcoming action flick called Sucker Punch, and she couldn't help but describe it as her ultimate Angelina Jolie role.

Vanessa Hudgens told E! News that she was all ready to work on Sucker Punch, which will begin filming when she finishes the romantic retelling Beastly.  Unable to contain her excitement, she compared her character to Lara Croft in Tomb Raider.
