Vanessa Hudgens is an American actress and singer, who is best known for her portrayal of the character shy and meek Gabriella Montez in the High School Musical series. She was born on December 14, 1988 on the land of Salinas, California, and lived all over the West Coast, from Oregon to Southern California.
Vanessa’s parents are Gina Guangco, who held a succession of office jobs, and Gregory Hudgens, a fire-fighter. She was raised as a Roman Catholic and she has a younger sister, Stella Hudgens, who is also an actress. Vanessa is of mixed cultural background, as her father is of Irish and Native American descent, and her mother, a native of Manila – Philippines, is of Chinese-Filipino-Spanish descent. All of her family including her grandparents were musicians.
Vanessa actually can sing, act and dance; she has been home-schooled since the seventh grade and she has already graduated from high school. Vanessa desires to study business when she reaches college. She took piano lessons when she was younger and she enjoys singing just as much as dancing and acting.
Vanessa’s good friends with High School Musical co-stars Ashley Tisdale, Zac Efron, and Corbin Bleu, along with Alexa Nikolas, Brenda Song and Miley Cyrus. Her favorite kind of music is rock. In 2002 she planned to audition for American Idol.
